A New Day in Mobile Search

by Nils

Google released a shiny new version of their mobile search today and I must say it’s really sweet!

There are lots of cool new features but the one I like most is the way prior search locations are stored and used for future searches. This feature allows you to avoid having to enter your zipcode each time you want to find a movie or check the weather since it will automatically use the last zipcode you entered on a prior query.

Even their Icecream is good! :)
It's-It Google Collab

I admire what a great job Google does at building effective tools that are really simple to use. Congrats on this release to Yael, a good friend and Product Manager on the Mobile Team! Now I know she really has been busy. ;-) Nice one mare!

Read all about the new mobile search functionality here on Yael’s blog post.

Viva Las Vegas

by Nils

Rimon (our V.P. of Engineering) and I were in Las Vegas the last few days at the Merchant Risk Council 5th Annual Conference. While it was long days spent learning about new ways to prevent fraud and exchanging ideas with others we did have some time to check out some of the sites too.

Here’s the water show at the Bellagio. Grabe!

G-Cash and Microfinance

by Nils

There’s lot of talk lately about mobile banking and remittance services. The Philippines is one of the countries leading innovation in this area. Globe Telecom’s G-Cash and Smart’s Smart Padala are two great examples.

Millions of OFW’s around the world send money and load back home. These new mobile remittance services promise to make it cheaper and easier than ever for Filipino’s to help their loved one’s all at the speed of text. Take a look at this video about Globe’s award winning G-Cash and microfinance.

The Power of 40

by Nils

I was just reading a blog post written by one of my friends James who co-founded Hot or Not. He mentioned that when he and Jim started Hot or Not they sent an email to about 40 friends to let them know about the site. From there things took off as word of mouth spread. Since that time they estimate around 100 million people have visited the site!

Our success at Aryty depends on the same type of word of mouth that made Hot or Not such a homerun. We will never have enough money to advertise parang a large corporation and frankly you can’t buy trust. Instead our plan is to deliver the best service to buy cellphone load possible and to build our business one customer at a time. Hopefully if we do a great job you will help us by telling a friendabout Aryty.

Isabihin mo yung kaibigan mo tungkol sa Aryty! Salamat po :)

Philippine Peso Rally

by Nils

ThePhilippine Peso has been on a tear and hit a 6 year high recently! A few of the reasons behind the move include strong performance on the Philippine Stock Exchange, and record remittance levels from OFW’s.

A strong peso is nice for Filipino’s who send their kids to school overseas or want to take a vacation in the states but it’s not great for those who want to send money to the Philippines or buy Philippine goods because you get fewer pesos for the dollar.

WOW! Tingnan mo ito!

We always try to keep the cost of sending load to the Philippines as low as possible for Aryty customers. Unfortunately we cannot control currency fluctuation. When the Peso goes up the price of load will increase and when the Peso goes down load prices will decline as well. And rest assured, while the dollar might be worth a little less for the time being, the gift of load is not!

Texting in the Cold

by Nils

The weather in New York has finally gotten nasty. The temperature is down to 13°F but it feels like -1°F with the wind chill. Ang lamig!

On my walk home from the office tonight i came across a unique problem. Texting! After sending one text my fingers were so numb I couldn’t even feel the keys on my Nokia. It was like trying to chew gum with a mouth full of novocaine!

Ey mare, try texting in these! :p

FortunatelyAryty thought ahead to let you send load to any Globe, Smart or Sun phone in the Philippines using text OR your computer so you never have to worry about being stuck in the cold!

Aryty at Work
