Advice from Oprah at the Stanford Commencement Ceremony

by Nils

Oprah Winfrey was the speaker at this morning’s Stanford Commencement Ceremony for the class of ‘08. She had 3 good pieces of advice to share with the class and visitors and they are definitely worth passing along!

Feelings
Follow your gut and go with what feels like the right thing to do.

Failure
Don’t dwell on failure but rather ask “what is there to teach me from this?“.

Finding Happiness
To really find happiness you should stand for something larger than yourself.

Oprah shared lots of great stories around her points including one the one about her 1st news job where they wanted her to change her name to Susy. We all know how that one turned out. :-) Her commencement speech was inspirational and judging by the crowds reaction her message really connected.
