Manny Pacquiao throws the first pitch at SF Giants Filipino Heritage Night
by ClarissaBay area Filipinos came from near and far to attend the San Francisco Giants’ Filipino Heritage night and to see our boxing idol, Manny Pacquiao throw the ceremonial first pitch of the game against San Diego.
Ang saya-saya! It was great to see so many Filipinos wearing San Francisco Giants jerseys, showing their full support for the local baseball team. The night was extra special for all who attended, whether or not they came from Filipino ancestry. The best things about Filipino culture were presented in a venue where everybody could enjoy the warm weather and festive atmosphere of game day.
The event was well organized. Manny Pacquiao was scheduled to throw the first pitch at exactly 7:05 pm. Before that, the fans were treated to a wonderful cultural show by the excellent Likha Dancers in beautiful, bright traditional Filipino tribal costumes.

Our hearts swelled with pride for the Philippines even more as the Filipino veterans, who fought alongside American soldiers during World War II, were honored. We owe these brave (retired) soldiers a huge debt, because the sacrifices they made many years ago allow us the freedom all Filipinos and Americans enjoy today.

The ‘Pacman’ was looking sharp in his white shirt, vest, and cap. The crowed cheered loudly as the announcer gave an introduction fit for the Filipino boxing icon who’s earned his title as the best pound for pound boxer in the world.
Some lucky fans got their hands on the Manny Pacquiao bobble head doll, the latest and hottest in Pacman memorabilia.
The much anticipated ‘Battle of East and West’ between the Manny ‘the Pacman’ Pacquaio and Ricky ‘the Hitman’ Hatton is in 10 days na lang! Make sure you get your friends together on May 2. You can order to see the fight live on HBO PPV.
